Finally the 2013 Paddling Season
A cool and wet spring after a record breaking amount of snow in April and we finally are experiencing some nice paddling weather here in the northland.
Some very cool new Tandems from Stellar, the S2E Tandem, out last year and here in the shop is ultra sleek and low volume, much better suited for our water than the super big volume boats from SA. (Unless, of course, you're going out in conditions featured below). And new for 2013 a Stellar racing/ fast touring tandem kayak the ST21, also here in the shop.
Looking forward to experiencing some thrilling rides and establishing some local benchmarks, maybe even a You tube video to share.
Along with these tandems are the wave of new stable surfers from Think, the Eze, Stellar, the S18S, a unique touring ski that has hatches for carrying gear, and finally the Swordfish from Fenn . These are skis that will allow a beginner a much more accessible entry into the sport of sufski paddling, specifically the surfing or swell riding aspect.
More boards than ever, wet suits, paddles and racks. Come chase the wave on Superior's North Shore.
Get out & get wet, John

So, check this out. "VIDEO".
Thanks Barry Lewin for making a very cool and eye watering surfski video, fun to watch and wonder.
That's 42 plus MPH in a kayak! I've had the opportunity to race with, more like behind, Barry a number of times, and this is he and his father chasing fast moving swell off Durban's Indian Ocean coast. While these exact and clearly ideal conditions aren't likely to be found on Superior we have some awesome blows with potential for boat speeds speeds in the 20's for sure in singles and and possibly...who knows in doubles?
I have finally invested in some GoPro cameras and will get the GPS hooked up. Think its time to feature a little freshwater stoke.
